About the role As the Manager, GST you will lead a team of 3 and be responsible for delivering high quality technical advice and manage the Australian GST and insurance duty reporting obligations of the Group. This role is being offered at a 2 year Fixed Term Contract and can be based in Sydney, Brisbane or Melbourne.
Responsibilities
Responsibility and oversight of responses to operational GST, Insurance Duty, and other compliance issues, including working with Function personnel and/or Tax consultants to investigate issue, formulate proposed response, implement solutions;
Develop the awareness and understanding of GST, Insurance Duty, and other legislative provisions, ATO /SRO rulings and processes etc to provide high level written advice to the Group and also train Tax Consultants in all technical research and advice preparation skills;
Develop productive relationships with internal stakeholders at various levels in order to identify specific transaction tax risks/savings and manage the investigation, quantification and disclosure of risks or realization of savings initiatives;
Enhance Tax Governance processes, controls and documentation, and assist in all GST Justified Trust interactions with the ATO.
Required skills and experience:
5-10 years experience in corporate tax consulting within a large corporate or Big 4 firm.
Experience in management of regulatory relationships
Demonstrated experience in provision of complex strategic tax advice
Experience in preparation of board papers, drafting or input into policies and guidelines
Experience in negotiating tax positions and correspondence with regulators
Demonstrated experience in managing and developing tax advice teams
Demonstrated experience in managing external advisor and partnering relationships
