Senior Specialist – Governance Fixed Term Contract - 12 Months (Potential for Extension)
Our client, a leading organisation undergoing a significant transformation program, is seeking an experience Corporate Governance specialist, to lead key aspects of a governance uplift initiative. This role will focus on strengthening corporate governance structures, processes, and frameworks to align with future operational and governance objectives. This opportunity is ideal for an experienced governance professional with a strong background in executive accountability, committee operations, and governance framework development.
Key Responsibilities: -Lead a baseline review (conducted by external consultants) of internal governance processes, including executive-level committees, delegations, and accountabilities. -Identify priority recommendations and develop a staged implementation roadmap based on the review findings. -Create and execute project plans and communication strategies to implement governance enhancements, such as: -Reviewing and uplifting delegations of authority. -Operationalising the executive accountability framework. -Streamlining internal management committee structures. -Develop and refine governance frameworks to support the effective operation of boards and management committees. -Ensure fit-for-purpose decision-making structures and processes are in place. -Design tools, guidance, key documents, and training to help business teams understand their accountabilities. - Prepare and present board and committee papers, updates, and business cases. -Present at board, management committee, and steering committee meetings. -Provide expert advice on governance, legal, and accountability matters.
Experience and Skills Extensive experience in legal, corporate governance, and executive-level accountability. Strong knowledge of executive accountability frameworks and governance structures. Demonstrated success in project delivery, including risk and issue management. Proficiency in planning, with the ability to address cross-program dependencies. Exceptional change management skills, with a focus on stakeholder engagement and influencing outcomes. Proven ability to work collaboratively with senior leadership and cross-functional teams. Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively at all levels. Relevant tertiary qualifications in law, governance, or related fields.
