Purpose of role

The role is responsible for providing essential administrative support to ensure the effective management of team programs and activities. This includes responding to inquiries through various channels such as phone, email, and correspondence, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation like the Companion Animal Act 1998 and Companion Animal Regulation 2018. The role also contributes to the development and implementation of programs and publications while maintaining positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

Key accountabilities of the role:

• Provide ongoing administration duties to contribute to the effective management of team programs and activities.
• Provide accurate, timely responses to enquiries on the OLG Companion Animal Helpline, including phone, email, correspondence and supporting documents, and understanding of the relevant legislation ie Companion Animal Act 1998 and Companion Animal Regulation 2018.
• Contribute to publications for OLG programs and projects.
• Contribute to the development and implementation of OLG programs and projects.
• Develop and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

Key Challenges of the role:

• Developing an understanding of legislation, codes, guidelines and policies relating to local government programs and applying that to respond effectively to inquiries, correspondence and requests for advice.
• Planning and prioritising work in a high volume business environment to meet conflicting and critical deadlines with minimal input from supervisor.


Essential Skills and Experience

  • Good communication skills
  • Government Experience 
  • Ability to deal with difficult customers
  • Call centre experience desirable
